Built for the Tips Act

Since 1 October 2024, the Employment (Allocation of Tips) Act requires UK employers to pass every tip to their staff, share them fairly and keep a record. TipMate makes that the default.

Every penny to your staff

The law says tips belong to workers, in full. With TipMate the tip goes straight to the employee’s own account — the venue never holds it, and the small processing fee is paid by the guest on top.

Individual QRs go to one person. Team tips are split equally between whoever is on shift, or by percentages we set up with you — the same rule every time, visible to your team.

How much does it cost the business?
Nothing. TipMate is completely free for the venue — no monthly fee, no setup cost. The customer pays a small processing fee when they tip, just like any card payment.
Do my customers need to download an app?
No. The customer scans the QR with their phone camera and the payment page opens directly in their browser. No app, no account, no friction.
When does my staff receive the money?
Tips are credited to the TipMate balance instantly. Each staff member can withdraw to their bank account whenever they want from their personal dashboard.
Does the money go through the business account?
No. Tips go directly from the customer to the staff member — the business never touches the money. The tip belongs to the worker, not the venue.
How long until it's up and running?
Maximum 48 hours from your request. We set up the account with you and send the printed material — done.
Does it work for visitors and tourists?
